Ca'bergantino Silva Luca

Three generation, one goal: to continue producing excellence! From the Vignale Monferrato Belvedere you can admire the vineyards, appreciate the colours and imagine the quality. In Silva Luca winery, you can taste the flavours of wines and appreciate the excellence of the Montferrat area.  Since, 1976, our family grow the best grapes from our vines which lay down on 30 hectares of land between Vignale Monferrato, Altavilla and Casorzo. Enrico Silva was the founder and pioneer of the family. Following its dreams, he left the rice fields of the Po Valley to land on the sweet and generous hills of the Montferrat Area. Here he threw down his challenge, though he was coming from the valley he wanted to produce the best wine of the Montferrat hills.  With great humility, dedication and self-sacrifice, he learnt how to produce wine starting from the first hectare the bought in 1976 together with the cottage and the cellar that hosted Silva Luca’s winery, today. All its knowledge and experience passed on to his son, Roberto. Wine became a family tradition that grew along with the family. Roberto led the winery until the end of the last century reaching the actual production of 2000 quintals of white and red grapes. The great reds of our tradition such as Barbera d’Asti and Bonarda have reached theirs higher quality. The niche productions such as Grignolino have gained a firm place among the Italian excellence. A reduced and very high quality production is the philosophy underneath the Silva family’s success. In the vineyards, an accurate pruning, an attentive thinning of the grapes and a low fertilization. In the cellar, traditional methods of winemaking go along with modern manufacturing processes and sterile bottling machines. Nowadays, Roberto Silva works together with his sons Laura and Luca. When few people believed in the success of withe wines, the third generation increased the production of Chardonnay, introduced the Sauvignon and proposed the Rosé Pinot Nero, a winning bet! In 2005, Silva’ s production of red wines won the Douja d’Or prize at the 34th national competition for DOC and DOCG wines. In the same year, also the Piemonte Bonarda 2005 was awarded with Douja d’Or prize and in 2006, the Barbera del Monferrato Vivace was awarded with the Torchio d’oro prize.
